Database errors (Error 500 IIRC), and then after a while, the Hostpapa parking screen. about 12-1AM this morning I think. Gave up and went to bed.

Do we have an imposter on the board?
Does anyone know the member called 'leftincatte'

If he is an imposter the I suggest we catch him and drop him down a deep shaft.

Later comment...
It seems that 'Leftincatte' has gone. Good ridance.

sorry about delay replying, stuff has been going on at home.

Not too fussed. I can install from scratch if req. As long as it supports latest joomla req.

About midnight-ish till 12:45ish.
Veeeerrrry slow response, multi-minute page-loads, and then it went down altogether.

The Forum was down most of Yesterday (404), and had intermittent outages (Cloudflare's cache page) the day before.

If You have an SLA with the host, I'd be beating them around the head with it at the moment.

It's always been slow for me. It takes maybe 30 secs to a minute to load a page.

If the site can be migrated, I have a spare website. I have 2 others on the same server (commercial one) never had any down time in 5 years.

yours if you want :)

got another ticket open with hostpapa.

It could be migrated but i'd have fee's to pay for transfering the domain name.

I've been giving Hostpapa hell recently but it doesn't seem to do much good.

We're paid up for another approx 18 months - i definitely won't be renewing with them. Tony - who are you with?

to be fair, Joomla is slow and not the best software to use for a forum.

30 second page load times are a little excessive but not unheard of, add to that the chat function that has been added, it all slows everything down.

as for down time, i have noticed some, it is normally around the same time of night, i suspect this will be down to a back-up of the database been performed

Im with winserve  (http://www.winserve.co.uk/)

I have a 3 website deal, but only using 2.
I think its a fairly small company, when ever i've asked for help with something, i've had a reply within the day.

Newstuff can't seem to get on. He has messaged me on another forum to let me know and here is a cut and paste of what he has done;

I've just tried it again, and it doesn't want to play nicely.

If it helps Tim diagnose, I'm using whatever the latest Firefox is (13 I think). Google chrome does not want to know either. I even fired up Internet Exploder... sorry, Explorer, and that does not want to know either... and I now need a hot bath and a strong drink to recover from the experience... (I do not like IE!).

Cache has been cleared, cookies nuked and my DNS is responding accordingly (Although I did try out Google's one to see if that was a problem).

I'm Inclined to think that's it may be a problem with a Peering arrangement (ISP's transferring data to each other) if no-one else is having the problem. Weird as hell nonetheless, as quite literally every other site I have tried is fine.

My ISP is ADSL24 using Cable and Wireless on LLU.

I hope it helps, and keep me posted on anything juicy that I may miss... I'll be in the corner shaking at the though of no Forum.

Ali

Newstuff, as and when you get a moment please can you trace route and ping ucet.org.uk

i.e.

at the command prompt type:

ping ucet.org.uk

and then

tracert ucet.org.uk

and copy and paste the results for me.

Firefox updated, and I'm back on.

I have no idea what the issue was, as 3 different browsers decided not to play.

the browser works fine with the site if i'm connected via wi-fi, but wont connect if i use vodafone 3g

it sounds like the vodafone IP address range has been blocked from your server, i have the same isue with another site and i know the ip range HAS been banned from that server due to some security isue.

The site works fine using Dolphin HD on a HTC one X. This is the same WiFi connection as my pc's use. Firefox browser is the latest on my pc.
