Here it is folks:
Trip: Cabin Shaft, Minera
Trip Type: General mooch
Meet time: 19.00
Meet point: The Moors Inn car park, Bwlchgwyn
Notes: Electron ladder on entry/exit, a bit shitty but a good trip!!
I'm out. I left my caving gear in someones car, and it's gone to Manchester...
Haha, Sods law strikes again!
I see a "local" trip, and I can't get a Babysitter...
I'll keep trying, but it's not looking good.
I'll be there - will bring a ladder

Anyone thinking about srt'ing to the turk? I've never been.
The gate to Grand Turk is now open Tim - no need to go through Minera.
I would suggest that Grand Turk be a trip on it's own merits - it is a 5 hour + trip to go through Minera and do Grand Turk and go back.
Should get away with two electons instead of SRT but don't quote me on that ;)
Ian
It's also worth pointing out that Minera is very mineral rich and is a veritable warren of passages. It is a very interesting trip in its own right and is much bigger than time will allow for on a Thursday evening.
Knee pads essential !
:)
Ian
sounds like a plan - just minera it is then - whos leading?
Depends who is going and where everyone wants to go - there are multiple routes ;)
Also, I would suggest a lifeline for anyone is is not comfortable on a free-hanging 30 foot electron ladder :)
Ian
ian, as i'm not sure who is is going, i'll bring ladder and lifeline.
tim
I shall be there :)
I hope to come. Thanks for the map Tim. Lifeline please, as I am not expert (yet) on free electrons, but the more practice I can get the better. I will have SRT belt to hang my life on.
I'll be there :cheer:

.... You know what he means and I think it is perfectly reasonable to use a belt under the circumstances :P

just because you get up to allsorts behind closed doors in your MENS club does'nt mean we all do :silly:  :silly:  :silly:
just a thought , why don't we drop a ladder down cabin go in through grand turk entrance and work are way out
We can do ... there will be at least three people who have not been in Minera and would enjouy a wander - we could go out the Grand turk entrance anyway (do both)
;)
Ian
ye i suppose we can make it up on the night
Actually it is the clubs belt - after all the amusement it has caused.
What is the right name for the thing then?
I upset Guy by calling his apparatus 'a nappy' when I first saw one being prepared for use at Belgrave.
May I join you? Had a fantastic time last time :)
Also, Sorry Joel. If i'd have had my brain in gear and thought there might be a possibility of seeing you before Ed did I could've taken it from him and brought it along tomorrow.. See you at the open weekend though?
TLH
John .... calling it a nappy is just fine ;)
Tom ... yes of course you can :)
Ian
right, ladder and safety line in landy -all set and ready to go :-) see you i a bit.
ps. just been on to our server providers helpdesk - server was down again at there end - just had a damn good moan at them about reliability issues.
Looking back after a long lie-in on Friday morning - it was a good trip (but much moaning from me during the course of it).
Started badly with discovery that the ladder was too short by six feet, but Ian came to the rescue with his monster ladder. The formations in the first cavern are fantastic.
The rest of the trip was varying grades of agony, with several tight squeezes through bolders, and a terrifying ascent up a vertical wet shaft. It all made sipping a good beer whilst sitting in front of a warm log fire in the Glan especially relaxing.
Thanks again to every one - for taking me in getting me out.
I look forward to the film.
"vertical wet shaft"
Sounds like you guys managed to make the connection then? Did you come out of the enterence to grand Turk?

No worries tom. I think I'm going up to manchester this weekend anyway. You should be seeing me at the open weekend too :)

In a word - "yes" ;)
Well done. I'm not sure if I could remember the way!
Mike and ian made it look easy - didn't once make a wrong turn ;-)
Ian did not know the way either, and we went down several routes only to be told to go back. Ian must have covered twice the distance exploring routes as well as photographing the whole trip. We did eventually get out of the Turk tunnel, which thankfully was not locked (even though Ian yelled back to us that is WAS locked and we would have to go all the way back the way we had come).
The lesson for this trip for me is that there isa a great need for some 3D mapping of systems as complicated as this one. I guess we actually saw a fraction of the extent of the system. Ian's description of the Great Turk cavern is very enticing.
