Well, after a couple of trips out with us and after the boring admin of filling in a membership form, Ali (NewStuff) has joined the club :) :)
Welcome aboard and I hope you have many great adventures with us (oh, and a few pub sessions too ;) )
Tim will upgrade your forum account as soon as he sees his email and I will get your welcome pack and BCA card sorted on Monday.
:) :) :) :)
Ian
Cheers Ian.
Looking forward to a few trips out, assuming my manager at some point understands the concept of an Early shift on a Thursday
I dare say I'll see everyone out and about at some point, and no doubt you will all see me shuffling in a nervous manner at the top of a pitch somewhere.
hi ali
welcome to the mad house.
hope to see you out as often as poss.
if there is any trip you have'nt done and fancy doing , just ask
Hi Ali - you're all upgrades to membership status on the forum so you should now see the private areas. - let me know if you have any problems.
Welcome to the club! :-)
Shuffling at top of pitches? Sounds like he needs a trip down pepe's mike? ;-)
Welcome to the Club mate, some fantastic and easy going people in UCET, I'm sure you will be happy with us :)
I know I will... I'll admit to checking UCET out with a wary eye... with all of the NWCC/GCC shenanigans, gates, politics and bickering, I have a somewhat skewed/anti-club view of caving, but UCET strikes me as less of a club, and more of a group of mates that like to disappear down holes on a regular basis, but with the "Official" benefits that a club brings.

thats the idea. we just want to DO what it say's on the tin :P :P
Always get it on my Joining thread...
If I didn't know that it was a Bot-net sending it, I'd ask for the IP address, and nuke it into oblivion...
How are we getting spammers on our Fourum?
TIM - PLEASE EXPLAIN >>>>
If a spammer can get in, then susrely others we don't want could be reading our private forums?
ALSO....
I found the whole site inaccessible most of yesterday. Just a screen saying the server was down. I never get this problem on the Bio-power forum site hosted with Heart Internet
Because we're an open forum. We allow anyone with a valid email address to create an account. I have quite a few anti spam measures in place but nothing is totally fool proof. We have massive amounts of traffic looking at out public forum areas. We actually do pretty well against dpam compared to many forums bearing in mind the overall traffic we get.
Server wise, yes, its shit, I got a 2 year deal with hostpapa for very good deal, but there is no way i'll ever renew with them. I'll either revert back to running from a server from home, or move to another provider.
I've spent lots of time over that few months raising tickets with hostpapa, its improved very slightly but is still shit. We don't get a refund if we end contract early, so unless we decide to bite the bullet and write of the remsin time of the contract we're stuck with them. They have got slightly better over the last few months, so fongers crossed.

Do you not have a service level agreement with them? If so then surely they are in breach of the contract and you can threaten to go to court for damages over the poor service.
They may well pay you off...
It says they AIM for 99.9% uptime. But not that they will. Its got better but I deffo won't be using them again. I'm running other websites on other servers with no problems hostpapa have started getting some very bad press though.

That dynamic caused me to near cack my pants dropping into Fferna... "booooiiing"...
Ali's sphincter starts doing the "1p 2p" impression.
I'll stick to my nice, static Marlowe.

I did the same the few years back. I tend not to go on a dynamic underground. The further down you go, the faster you go!
Tim, is there any chance you could put up a verification code upon registration?
The love Newstuff though, and i'm not sure why!
Joel we already do - we use captcha which cuts out 99% of the spam accounts - some get through though.
More Mystery meat in a can?
I do seem to be really popular... can I sell advertising for them in my Sig? ;-)
