Taking a photography mate - (non underground junkie) on a gentle trip into Spar mine on Monday evening. Purely as a photography trip.
That said - i may take a rope and rig something to give a 'subject' to photograph i.e. me!
Anyone want to come along to either a) have a go at some easy SRT or b) to have a relaxed 'play' with underground photography?
Probably be there about 7:30pm until about 9:30pm-ish - most likely with a pint in the oak afterwards
Would you mind if i popped along Tim wouldnt mind seeing how the photographs are done, keep toying with the idea of taking photography up as a hobby
don't forget your camera
tim's actually really good at underground photography
so could give you some tips
I might pop a long as well :silly:
Right - aim for 7pm in the royal oak carpark then.
Bring a camera and tripod if u have them - or you can have a play with mine!
Also let me know if u want to do any SRT & bring your kit.

you must be watching me on your web cam darlin
I'm off Monday. Was going to take a trip up to Ffestiniog to document a mine there, but may come along to this afterwards if I'm not exhausted from being knackers deep in water all day :)
Right - plan is as follows....
I'll be at royal oak carpark at 7:30 - or very shortly after - the guy i'm bringing has a longish drive to my house but it aiming for getting to my house for 7:15. Apols if i'm a bit late.
I'll be bringing camera gear and also some ropes for anyone who wants a play about.
Sorry for the short notice, I'll come too if thats ok?
I'm trying to get into this photography lark.
I'll bring camera and tripod :cheer:
Tony
I will be at Guy's playing games and getting drunk ;)
I will be at Guy's playing games and getting drunk ;)
kidney infection was'nt that bad then     tut tut
It lasted in excess of 4 days and kept me in bed the whole time watching Spanish TV. I lost another 4 days while it progressed to screw up my chest - I feel a drink and a game is now in order
we had fun tonight - 6 of us. Rigged a rope for a little play - took some photos - had a look at the water level... right back up again :-(
pint in the oak afterwards - with live music on.
result.
Aye was good fun ! Cheers Tim !
bit of a random one but beats watching telly.
Bit dischuffed I missed this post as I eneded up sitting in the pub faffing around and talking sh**te.
Need to keep my eyes on the forum more
oops uploaded wrong pics :/
Hum, they didn't upload ....
Are they of a stupidly high definition size ?
Any thoughts oh great and divine Tim ?
:(
Ian
I bet everyone is desperate to see your pictures having followed the topic about your trip - and they don't open.
They do now - Thanks!
And excellent pictures.
Well done everyone!
My first attempt at underground photography.
Good work - nothing wrong with those :-)
Awesome pics ;)
Piccie 4 - Red goblin eyes - pretty sure I have been banging on about these buggers underground for years BUT ... "oh no..." nobody listens !
Ian
I heard the little begger running off after the picture ! I believe you ian goblins are real !
Don't get excited. In this case it was my mate Andys red flash going off, and red LED.
But don't let we burst your bubble, coz obviously Goblin are real - they appear in the dictionary so must therefore be 'fact'! :-) :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
 (better keep looking behind!)

Tony, for a first attempt, those pictures are very very good.
Are you shooting on a bridge or an SLR?
well done tony. for your first time they are pretty spot on
that camera is an Olympus E420 DSLR, I'm not a big fan of it. My wife has a canon 600D, but i've less than no hope getting that down a hole. :cheer:

i do beleive tim has got a sexy camera for sale .
is'nt that right timbo
My friend uses his Olympus E420 underground, he gets some really nice pictures on it. The processing time is lengthy after shots though on it.
The Camera Tim is selling is the one that i have, love it :). I want a D90, but if i do, I will sill be using the D60 underground.
Nikon D60 with a 18-55mm nikon lens - mint condition with all bits and bobs charger, leads, caps etc - even a memory card included.
Watching a couple on ebay at the moment to get get an idea of second hand value and you can have it for 'less' than they go for......
He will even throw in a 10-20mm Sigma ;)
He will even throw in a 10-20mm Sigma ;)
Yer for an extra £500.00 !
I use a £25 2nd hand camera off Ebay. Actually, I have used a few
plnety on ebay mind...

£25 x 20?
£500 could have bought you a 2nd hand £200 SLR and a brand new 10-20mm lens, with change for a pelicase to stop you trashing them!! ;-)
. Actually, I have used a few
would you like to tell the boy's and girl's how many "a few" is please mr A
Hum. It is now actually 20 as Tim says. However, if I had spent £500 as he suggests each time then it would have cost me 20 x £500 = £10000. That would have required an additional element of stupidity of which I do not feel capable of :(

I did mention the option of putting it in something waterproof! I know its an alien concept but hey - stanger things have happened ;-)

Yes, that would have been much worse
I use a darren drum, pain in the arse to get the camera out of though. Might just buy a pelicase
FYI I use a Peli case for my video camera stuff, take it kayaking whatever, superb and you don't get condensation in the case etc whic you do with placky bag type stuff.
I use a Landjoff Drybag (They have an Ebay shop). Seems to work for waterproofing, but no protection from Impact. I tested it by sealing a Toilet Roll in it, and flinging it in the bath.
It depends on your Body and Lens combination, as some of the new Autofocus (Who actually uses AF underground?) lenses will not fit in the smaller one. I use old Manual Focus lenses, and bang the focus on infinty. Seems to work well enough.
I find the camera more in danger of Drips from above when shooting, than getting a dunking when travelling through a Mine.
pain in the arse to get the camera out of though.
I would imagine it will always be a pain to get your camera out of your arse
andy. photos look great. so are you hooked on the underworld as well as the underwear?
I want a D90, but if i do, I will sill be using the D60 underground.
I said that about my 20D when I upgraded, So if you do upgrade I bet it wont be long before the new one is joining down under B)
This picture
