Post by: Ian A on Mar 29, 2011, 01:26 PM
Please note : I do not know the name of this mine â€" if you DO know the name, please could you add it to this thread and I will update the header â€" thanks !

Location
SN 662(72) 861(29)

Directions
You will need an O/S map â€" the mine is not on a public footpath but is on an agreed “rights of way” track with the landowner. It is close to a square patch of woodland.

Access
Ungated and Unknown.

Suggested Equipment
Full SRT

Length
Unknown but probably substantial

Flood Risk
Unknown

Mine Attributes
Lead or silver.

Description
There appears to be no entrance adits at the lowest level of this mine although there is a spoil heap higher on the hill with an open shaft.

The mine workings include ruined buildings perhaps used for the ore processing and a waterwheel housing. The waterwheel housing is above the other workings and below the shaft on the hill and it may be that the mine was actually worked from the shaft and the ore brought down the hill.

There is no sign or even evidence of a drainage adit (which is odd) but there is plenty of spent spoil.
