YES FRANK WE ARE ;) ;)
I'm up for the through trip.
 DON'T FORGET YOUR SRT KIT
Is the belgrave mine suitable for newcommers? Another of my daughters, Bethany (20) wants to come on an easy trip. Something like the Maeshafn trip would put her off for ever! Where is the location of the lay-by in Llanferres, or is it obvious?
hi john
the layby is quite obvious . if you pass the druids pub on your right the layby is about 1/2 mile on the left . the mine is really easy , a bit of a crawl to get in then you stand up all the way . so yes very suitable for noobies
I'm exploring an old asylum in Preston and I doubt that I will be back by 6pm :(

  not me frank i would'nt say that "honest"
The first time that I met Henblas I was late for the trip and had missed the winchman (Mike). I decided to Ab it anyway on my own.
After going down 80 metres, I discovered to my complete horror, that there was a knot in my hand and I was still suspended 20 metres above the landing platform and 120 metres from the bottom of the shaft. The last 20 metres wasn't rigged!
There wasn't a chance I was going to admit defeat at this point and go back up the rope. I sat there for a bit feeling pissed off at myself when I realised that there was a safety rope for the winch running down the middle of the shaft, which was secured at the top of the shaft. After a few attempts, I managed to swing over to it and attach my ascenders to the rope. I had to prussik up about 10 metres to account for the stretch in the rope and finally get off my petzl stop. once on the safety rope, i could continue my ascent down the shaft.
I blame Mike for all of this, as he said the purpose of the trip was to rig the final 20 metres of the abseil.
i blame him as well . he's a utter barsteward
I will be there tomorrow evening, either for srt or a mooch
