Me, me, me, I'm going. B)

As conference manager I suppose I had better turn up.

It is hoped that camping will be in site or nearby.
You really ought to do the conference dinner as Monmouth will be heaving Saturday evening for food.
The stomp is a must, the band, Rockaholic, are an awesome 1980's rock covers band. B)

You probably want a T shirt as well, nudge, nudge! ;)

Have you booked yet Tim?
If you are coming all weekend I can offer you a deal in exchange for doing some "work", such as free admission, free camping, perhaps a beer or two...

(Work = sitting in lecture theatres waiting for stuff to go wrong...  and help with setting up and taking down, etc. None of it is onerous. I note you have skills with a mixing desk, etc. so this would be right up your street.)

Quiet camping is on site and we hope to have some night time security to ensure it stays quiet.

Less quiet camping is nearby (but far enough away it shouldnt cause problems).

Les, was just about to book online now.

Our restriction being our 18month old :-) The plan was to drop him off at his grans on Satursday morning and then drive over to arrive at 11am(ish). We'd then have to leave at around 3pm on the Sunday in order to be back in time for him.

That said, I'm quite happy to 'work' all the time we're there.

I've no problem with paying (or not). What I was about to pay for was 2 x 2 day tickets, 2x meal, 2x stomp and 1 x Tent and probably 1 or 2 x T - Shirts.

I'll speak to the mrs later tonight (I'm offshore at the moment) and see how she feels about going for two nights to arrive on Friday instead - i'd enjoy helping set up!

That being the case I can also offer LWB landrover with roof rack (and towbar/trailer) travelling from northwales/cheshire direction if any gear needs moving. Have also got gear eg microphones, mic stands etc that i'd be happy to lend if required?

I'll drop a message on hear after speaking to sarah later

Tim

If you could plan it you might want to try and stay for the closing ceremony as well. Normally over by 5:30 ish all being well.

No gear to come from North but I will remember your offer of kit. Do you have any radio mics?

If you work then your admission and camping is free. Not much but the best I can do. There may also be a free beer.

Friday set up is the biggie. We normally start at about 4pm and finish at about 11pm. We need to blackout and build three lecture theatres and the Trade hall/exhibition area. Saturday and Sunday is mostly just sitting in on a few sessions (if you were going to those talks anyway then it is pretty easy. Sunday morning we have to rebuild a lecture theatre (after the Dinner and stomp) but that normally goes relatively easily.
We have radio coms in each theatre and roving techies if you can't cope with a particular problem.
It is normally a most excellent weekend and a lot of fun.

no radio mics :-(

only have wired types - plenty of long XLR cables to go with them though

Anything else you're currently short of?

Not really. We have been doing this for a lot of years now and own all our own gear. We are just looking to get more radio mics and it just occurred to me to ask.

If you are working there is space on the booking form for concessions, just put "tech team in there for both days. Don't book the camping it will be issued to you on arrival (online form can't deal with it at the moment) You can't book the package but just chose the items individually.

I would like to go.  I MAY have a place (house) to stay in (Great Doward) - if my aunt can allow it! If I can get the house, then hopefully up to 6 people - 2 double beds, a single and mattress on the floor.  also has great camp ground under the trees.  will try my luck on her if anyone is interested! :)

With a bar and live band until 1am, camping on site is a pretty good idea. I see Great Doward is about 3 or 4 miles away up the A40, OK so long as somebody stays sober to drive it...

Onsite camping is £5 per tent for the weekend and free to volunteer staff.

It's up to you (although the double bed does sound good...)

Les,

Spoke to Sarah last night. We're gonna be ok for staying two nights so will arrive Friday and are both happy help setup etc and stay right through until Sunday eve.

I think we'll probably stick with camping on site for the convince.

Claire make bloody sure you come too coz it should be a great weekend! :-)

Les, i don't have your email - mine is tim.s.watts(at)btclosedworld.com (change the @ and closed to open! - spam prevention!). Please can you drop me a email so i can email back a few more questions. ta.

You need to book. I really can't keep track of everybody. Please use the online booking form
www.hidden-earth.org.uk

if you want to work then email/pm me and we can discuss it (do this before you book).

Somewher around 6-700 people will be there at the weekend and something like 100 members of staff. If people don't book then they will be disapointed (you can always "just turn up" but things like t-shirts and dinner will be sold out).

If you are staff then you really need to book for lots of "admin" reasons.

The main one being I will forget, also it ensures your name is spelt right in the credits (well at least it improves the chances)
