Hi folk first time poster here looking for a little bit of info on the current state of access to Rhiwbach slate mine.
I'm looking to arrange a visit here in the near future and want to make sure I have all the information I need. Am I right in thinking that access can be arranged by contacting Cave Access Limited (CAL), all the information I can find seems to indicate this would be the way to go but this information is also not very recent. Any confirmation or clarification on the current process for gaining access would be gratefully received.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
The CAL agreement died a few years ago - NRW pulled the plug for reasons unknown as the scheme worked well for both sides. Given the state of NRW I am not hopeful that we will get access in the future.
see www.caveaccess.co.uk for the announcement.
That said, there is little chance of being caught and Go Below etc. will turn a blind eye. I have a nte of the access code for the padlock - I am not sure if this has been changed, but I can pass it on, but not on a public forum. mail me dtyson 'at' anduin.org.uk

We (Go Below) do meet explorers in there from time to time, but it's not our job to control, manage or police access to the place. We are just a mine user like everyone else. The only situation where we'd make an intervention is if we witnessed something very dangerous or illegal happening, as we're obliged to do so under mine regs.
So as far as we're concerned, other explorers are just other explorers and it's nothing to do with us.
