Title: Foel Ispri Gold Trial
Post by: Ian A on May 02, 2011, 10:00 AM
Location
SH 695 203

Directions
From Dolgellau, head to Barmouth.  After the  village of Llanelltyd, turn right on the first “proper” road (heading to “New Precipice Walk”. Take a “track” on the right about a mile up over a cattle grid (still heading for “New Precipice Walk”). You are now driving with a stream to the right. Shortly before you cross the stream on a small bridge, the adit is at the stream side on the opposite side. It can be seen from the road as you drive by.

Access
Gated and locked.  Presumably forestry commission land.

Suggested Equipment
None.

Length
50 feet

Flood Risk
None apparent

Mine Attributes
Gold ?

Description
A total mystery. This adit has a very substantial gate (the type used by the forestry commission) and is locked. There is an older gate (also substantial) laying close by which suggests it has always been gated off.

The adit is extremely short and appears to pose no risk or danger whatsoever. On the face of it, the gate is pointless and a waste of money but presumably there is a reason.

The back of the adit can easily be seen from the gate.
