UCET Thursday Trip Advisor
Howdy Doody,
Here are the details for our next Thursday night trip;
Location : Pearl Shaft
Meet Place : Halkyn Quarry
Meet Date : Thursday 30th March 2023
Meet Time : 6:30pm-6:45pm
Requirements : Wellies, overalls, helmet, lamp, gloves, cows tails (optional)
Link to Parking: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.2433795,-3.2197772,3a,75y,285.28h,69.14t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sS_rKYedUpSgQLCD46H-trg!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?hl=en-GB
This is the turning immediately after the main quarry entrance. Follow it round to the obvious parking place a couple hundred yards down.
Post Code : CH8 8HP
Notes : This is a lead mine with a fixed ladder entrance pitch of, around, 40 feet. Once down, some of the passages are a little squeezy. There are a couple of short, rope assisted areas. There is also an area of crinoids (if you know where to look) as well as a nice sphalerite vein (again, if you know where to look). You will get muddy.
Suitable for novices with some experience, not suitable for debut cavers.
If you do fancy coming, please could you reply to the UCET forum. No worries if you don’t know.
Thanks !
See you soon…..
:D

Hello ive just moved to north wales and im a keen caver and I was wondering if I could join on the trip this thursday.
kind regards
tom
Hi Tom, you're more than welcome to join us, you can certainly attend this trip and be insured by our club insurance without being a member for the time being, assuming you have your own lid/lamp and caving stuff? This mine is a non SRT mine but entrance is via a ladder way and we'll have a tripod, lifeline and harness if needed, if you don't have your lid/lamp, let us know and we'll bring one for you
Deffo count me in unless Mike needs a hand doggin
