UCET Trip Advisor â€" Sept 15th 2022
Howdy Doody,
This Thursday’s trips are to Parc Mine near Betws-y-Coed.
Trip #1 (Level 3)
It is a through trip and does require SRT. The ropework is all down and short pitches and is suitable for people who have undertaken the basics of SRT. You will need your own SRT kit for the trip.
Trip #2 (Level 2)
A general bimbling wander along the main adit to see the old workings and, if you get far enough (and know where to look) the vein of fool’s gold that sparkles with deep reds, vibrant blues and glittering gold.
The mine is lead (and zinc) and is fairly extensive. The lower level (that we are coming out of if you are SRTing) is “wetâ€. That is to say, you will be soaked. More details may be available on the forum thread (link below).
Location : Gwydyr Forest, just outside of Betws-y-Coed
Meet Place : Car Park, Gwydyr Forest
Meet Map : https://www.google.com/maps/@53.1317024,-3.8109851,0a,75y,53.28h,90t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sGFW5FNKkQoCASvimZd4COA!2e0?utm_source=mstt_0
Meet Date : Thursday 15th Sept 2022
Meet Time : 6:30pm to 6:45pm
Requirements : Wellies, Caving suit, SRT kit (Trip #1), helmet, lamp, gloves, Change of clothes
Notes : The upper level is (mostly) an easy “walk around†mine. You are walking along an old railcart line which does have “holes†on the right hand side of the passage that drop down to the bowels of the earth â€" care should be taken. There is a wonderful vein of glistening fool’s gold in the ceiling in one part of the passageway (if you know where to look). The lower level (exit level) has its own delights, most of which combine water and ochre.
It would be really handy to know if you are coming (no worries if you aren’t or don’t know).
See you soon…..
:)

Guys I am going to miss tonight . Turns out I’ve done parc before and I’d not benefit from a return. I need more extreme . I am sorry to mess about any numbers but I believe they are high anyway. I’ll await parys mountain where I can see new ground
Does anyone have a post code for the car park meeting place by any chance?
