We met some of you lot a few years ago when we came up for a few days in North Wales. We met Ian and Dave somewhere in a car park one night…. (I think it was a cabin shaft or something similar, really interesting mine with some short SRT). We are MCG and WCMs members.
I hope you don't mind me using your forum? I still remain logged in from years ago… So we are booked to come up to North again this Aug 10th to 13th. Would anyone be around for a couple of day trips at all? Thanks. James and Keri
Hi James
Are caving night is Thursday so we can put something interesting on for you on the 12th Aug . Just let me know if you prefer caves or mines.
Cheers.
Mike.
Great! Thank you, the 12th Aug will be perfect! We were hoping to do a mine trip if that suits?
That's fine. Milwr tunnel OK with you an keri
OK sure. Milwr sounds great! It looks like a really interesting place judging by some of the photos online! I am going to have a read up about it now. Thanks
About 400 ft of ladders but not all in one go, split up by a few adits
John
Did we take you and keri down crtt a few years ago
400ft of ladders sounds good! So a few years ago Ian took us into a small mine about 45 mins from Snowdonia (cant remember the name) then the next day we met some of the Wessex and did Parc Mine. We did the Croesor through trip around that time too. A great trip!
It was cabin shaft that we did
Les Williams and Paul Wilman we're there too
You got me totally flummoxed .... was it Hendre Spar Mine?

I remember, just trying to put a face to the name
I thought the first evening trip was called Cabin Shaft...however I am not so sure now, It defo was not Hendre. It was about 45mins from Snowdonia, there was a largish gravel area for parking (size of a football pitch or so) with some old mine outbuildings near by. It was in a designated conservation/walking area. The mine was a short SRT in (tie off on a tree then a 10m pitch) then about a 1.5 hour trip. There were a few SRT pitches, the last one, was more of a 45deg traverse up. Passage was small and cave like, with stacks of rubble propped up on old wooden beams that need to be navigated in close proximity. I would put/est the mines age at around 1900
Cabin shaft has an entrance exactly like that B) Once in, you don't actually need SRT (well, there is one spot I guess you could and another if you work your way over to Grand Turk Passage ....)
I do remember you saying that at the time actually, just below the first pitch upwards 45 min in or so. I think we pushed half way or so to Grand Turk. Either way, Cabin Shaft was a great small trip.
LOL ... I wish my brain worked as well as yours does :silly:
This is us! :)
Thanks for the piccie ... my neural network where those engrams are stored appears to be faulty. It must have been more than a couple of years ago ...
It was quite some time ago, like 2 years :silly:
Hi everyone! Is it still ok for Keri and I to join you for an evening trip on the 12th Aug? :)
Try a reboot ? Lol
Yes, of course you can join us :) Dunno where we will be yet so keep an eye on the forum B)
Ok, thanks, I will watch the Forum nearer the time!
