Hog roast and end of season bash,
I have left it this long in the hope of some clarity as to what the situation will be in September.
I have to say I am still none the wiser, The current plan is to have the do on 12th Sept, (if we are allowed to dependant it would seem on a second wave, or not), I think the current rules are that a gathering of 30 people is acceptable, of course this may change, either way.
we have a few things tentatively planned such as a wood fired pizza oven for people to design and build their own pizza, plus Les Lyons has sorted us a sound system and organised live music plus karaoke and any musicians who wish to entertain are always welcome.
there are loads of other stuff we can do, of course we have camping area and as it is all outside, social distancing should be possible.
It would be good if people could let me have some feedback so that the plan can be developed further, or not.

I'll be there. :woohoo:
I'm in B)
Me too Dougliass x
Hi Doug, we'd be interested to join you for this. Please keep us posted :-)
Count me in.
Doug, to help with social distancing propose you make a load of 2m radius hoops for people to wear. This will of course make access to alcohol harder but the challenge should be in line with the usual weird stuff that happens at yours.
Wendy and I will be there Doug, wouldn't miss it for the world
I hope you're not making any more of that dodgy home made alcohol though, or is there still plenty left from last time
that means they will be 4metres apart !!!!
count me in Doug - do we need shelters putting up again ?

I did specify hoops not cylinders, so need to be bigger to account for overlap.
although, the beer-aquisation-challenge when surrounded by a 1 metre diameter solid cylinder will be interesting to watch.

of course there will be homemade alcohol, this years special, peapod wine.

yes I think shelters may well be essential the way the weather has been lately.
Hi Doug, we'd be interested to join you for this. Please keep us posted :-)
we will have to scale it down a bit this year due to extraordinary circumstances, so to this end I don't plan to invite the neighbours this time, I think they will understand, we are allowed 30 people for an outdoor gathering, I think we can manage that.
we should get plenty of seats at social distance, hand gel, hand washing facilities, (in toilet),
a book so that people can leave contact details, paper plates, people should not share glasses or drink from the same bottle unless they are from the same household.
Can anyone think of anything I have forgotten.
I am interested in coming. If you need thing doing before give me a shout and if able will be up to help.

Thanks Steve, I am getting there slowly may be panicking towards the end of the week so watch this space.
It would be useful if everyone who is coming could confirm that they are still coming to get some idea of numbers, in these difficult times club members and their family and friends get priority but if we have spare capacity I could invite some of the neighbours and try to keep everyone happy.
Pizza oven is up and running, pig is ordered benches well advanced and shelter constructing is underway.
Still like to come but the current coronavirus locally and nationally situation is worrying and it may be best if I do not come.
No problem.
Any idea of how many people will be going on Saturday? If there is going to be more than 30 I am prepared to give it a miss. The coronavirus situation is looking very bleak at the moment and where I live is still under restrictions regarding meeting other people in their home or garden.
I very much regret that I don't think I will be able to make it ... I am out during the daytime and not likely to be back to later .... If I turn up I only count as half a person anyway :silly:
We're still up for this, let us know if you need help sorting things as the week progresses..
It is with a very heavy heart that I am going to have to cancel this weekend, mainly due to hostility of some of the neighbours because of the rise in New cases plus some other issues.
We could plan to do it in a month's time or leave it until spring, most of the preparation is done,so could pick it up easily.
One problem is that I have to collect the pig tomorrow as it has already been slaughtered, I can freeze it but will have to cut it up to get it in the freezer, may have to be a modified spit roast, but suppose it will taste the same.
I would appreciate any feedback about changing the date.
Sorry about the lack of notice but I was hoping things would sort themselves out.
Sorry to hear about this, Doug. It is impossible to make plans at a time like this and I fully understand your decision. I was unsure about whether or not I should come myself due to the situation. I am not working next Thursday (the 17th) so I will be along for the weekly trip (coronavirus permitting).
I suggest leaving it until May next year, remember the brilliant weather we had in May this year and hopefully we will have a vaccine by then.
Freeze the pig and think about it again next year some time ....
no worries Doug, thanks for all the effort put in.
Les has suggested doing it for the AGM sounds like a plan to me, what do you think.
Sorry to hear this Doug. Fuckin' neighbours! Cheers for all the effort you have put in.

We may not have an AGM .. certainly there isn't one planned at the moment. The way the country seems to be floundering in a wash of viral effluent, it may be some while before we can organise it.
Don't worry over it Doug ... let the dust settle then unfreeze the pig ;)
Why don't you just not invite the neighbours then it's got nothing to do with them, just you. Just a thought
Gutted for you Doug. Lots of hard work already put in by the sounds of it.
I couldn't have made it anyway (offshore) but i'm now in for a chance of making whatever the revised date might be :-)

Find out when you are onshore during the spring (April/May). Hopefully the virus will be in retreat by then, we will have a vaccine and we usually get good weather then.
Sorry to hear Doug was looking forward to it, need a plan for next one
The best days weather since the end of July, bloody typical.
