Title: Photography competition. ETC.
Post by: Doug Thompson on Jan 13, 2018, 05:00 PM
Just a reminder that time is running out for the photography competion, if you are coming to the club meal and get together on 20th Jan you can bring your pictures with you but if not try to get copies to the Glan for Thurs 18th.
The same applies if you wish to nominate anybody for any of the trophies, (best armchair caver), (best Dope on a rope), (best Digger), (best caving related engineer), (best Vikky ism), (best fertility, fertality, fatility).

GO ON IT COULD BE FUN.

(best armchair caver) ANT  ;) ,  (best caving related engineer) DOUG FOR THE TRAIN, (best Vikky ism) VIKKI FOR "CAN I POLISH YOUR HELMET IAN?", (best fertility, fertality, fatility) MURF FOR 'A BRIDGE TOO FAR'.

[/quote]

With a further mental trophy to you Doug for the effort you've put into this - they are the best trophies ever, hats off to you!  Thank you

How could we forget the armchair :woohoo:

My nominations are as follows

armchair caver - Hoss, hav'nt seen him out for years.
caving engineer - Mike for work on the new ladderway.
Best Vikky ism - well it has to be Vikki.
Best fertility - who could argue with Murph for that one especially after being reminded of the armchair fertility.
Best digger - Murph again for continuing work at Garreg Boeth.

Quote from: IanThe video evidence is here;

Well Ian, hats off to  you too coz you make a very fine video.  So much so that I nearly cried.  It was a joy to see so many people that I've admired doing the totally bonkers stuff that cavers do!

And to go off on a tangent and get a bit soap boxish (which is not at all like me  :unsure: ) -

There's been a lot of politics in the caving world lately and admittedly, it's taken the shine off things somewhat at times.   We're all a bit 'not quite right' and it's mostly that that I love about the club - meeting people I wouldn't ordinarily meet, talking about things I wouldn't ordinarily talk about, listening and learning from peoples experiences both in and out of the caving world, and most importantly having a laugh.  Oh, and going to places that I'd never otherwise go to I suppose (Maeshafn not included)!

The politics may be important, but surely it shouldn't overide all of the above - the 'evidence' speaks for itself.

So thank you for inadvertently helping me buck my own ideas up; may the Force be with us through 2018 with Trophies on mantle pieces up and down the land!  :)

Blah blah blah .....

P.S. You were considered for the Armchair yourself, so it's nice to be seeing you in the flesh again as it were!!!  ;)

Here is my entry ....

 :whistle:  :whistle:  :whistle:

From an artistic view point ... note the symbiosis between "human" and "cave", the naturally flowing elements, the lapis blue, the general stream of mind. Note also the esoteric allusion towards the succubus, the passage of pleasure (being lapis in both cases). Yet, the representation is contrasted by the dark rune lording both subjects; the mark of power, destruction and despair. Such devilish possession tempered with a soft and eloquent focus.

A winning composition in the minds of the many, and the few.

 ;)

I didn’t realise that the competition was to be “voted on” ….

My nominations are;

Best Armchair Caver : Guy (for simply being in the armchair more than others)
Best Caving Engineer : Doug (no brainer. Sorry Mike, Ladders do not equal trains)
Best Vikkism : Vikki (Because she has always been the best at it. Vikkisms too)
Best Fertility : No idea what that means!
Best Digger : Murf, he is obviously obsessed
Best Photographer : Me; no one else has dared breach the limits I went to with blue photography (in any sense)
:D

Ian

PS. I told you it would be crashed!  Nah na na nah na
